Your Dining Guide for Mumbai Monsoons

Mumbai during monsoons has its own rhythm. The city slows down just enough for long lunches that turn into evening cocktails, and sundowners that stretch comfortably into long nights. There is something cinematic about Mumbai during this season; sea-facing tables with grey skies and restaurants that feel warmer and welcoming as the weather cools down.

During this season, Mumbai’s dining scene feels less rushed and more atmospheric, leaning into spaces that make you stay a little longer over good food, cocktails, and even better conversations.

The Eau Bar stays a timeless spot for cocktails with a view. Set inside The Oberoi at Nariman Point, the bar opens up a cinematic view of Marine Drive and the Arabian sea where the skyline  slowly disappears in the monsoon clouds. Unlike other places in the city, this place feels quieter and more intimate. If you are looking to enjoy delectable cocktails on a laidback day, then this is the place that will make you stay for long hours. It is one of those restaurants that remind you why evenings in this city feel whimsical.

What to order: Their Espresso Martini and classic Martini remain favourites, best paired with sushi, fries, and dim sums while watching the rain take over Marine Drive.

The Table, Colaba

The Table continues to remain one of Colaba’s most reliable dinner spots, especially during monsoon evenings when the neighbourhood feels slower and more atmospheric. Known for bringing global flavours together in a way that feels approachable, the restaurant balances elegance with comfort, making it equally suitable for intimate dinners and long catch-ups with friends.

What to order: Their Truffle Fries, Burrata, Gnocchi, and Pork Belly remain some of the most ordered dishes from the menu, while their cocktails and dessert selection make it easy for staying longer than planned.

Scarlett House, Bandra

If you crave cosy, dimly lit spaces when it pours outside, Scarlett House is the place to be.  Tucked inside a bungalow in Pali Hill, the space carries the warmth of an old-home during monsoons. Slow conversations, dim lighting, and windows blurred by the rain outside. Afternoons here stretch easily over lunch and coffee, while evenings settle into a softer, moodier atmosphere with cocktails, dinners, and the sound of the rain cutting through the city noise.

What to order: The house special Paneer Thecha, Mushroom Agnolotti, The Burrata Salad, and Wood-fired Pizzas work perfectly with their cocktails and wine menu.

Kari Apla, Khar

If a simple, flavourful meal is your goal on a rainy afternoon, Kari Apla in Khar has an ideal menu defined by uncomplicated regional recipes. Deeply inspired by coastal flavours and home-style cooking, this compact restaurant approaches food with minimalism rather than leaning into theatrics. The name is derived from a blend of Malayalam and Marathi words, which translate to ‘our curry’, reflecting the warmth and familiarity that defies the experience.

While Mumbai’s restaurant scene currently leans towards aesthetics, Kari Apla stays focused on food. Every dish feels comforting, the kind of meal you find yourself craving for again and again.

What to order: The Kerala style Prawn Ghee Roast, Appams, and Curries paired with Neer Dosa stand out on the menu, especially during monsoon when comfort food feels more satisfying.

Dome, InterContinental, Churchgate

Perched above Marine Drive, The Dome at InterContinental remains one of the city’s most reliable monsoon evening spots. With an uninterrupted view of the Queen’s Necklace and the rainy clouds gathering over the sea, the space feels especially dramatic once the skies begin to turn grey. Unlike other rooftop bars, Dome feels more elegant and relaxed, ideal for slow conversations over cocktails while watching Mumbai light up in the rain.

What to order: Grilled Prawns, Sliders, and Sushi paired with their signature cocktails like LIIT and classic Sangrias, best enjoyed alongside the sea-facing view.

Aer Bar and Lounge, Worli

High above the city at Four Seasons Hotel, is AER, one of the city’s most well-favoured rooftop dining destinations. Come here for the panoramic skyline and stay for the lipsmacking menu. As the skies turn a different shade of blue, the space takes on a cinematic quality that makes it ideal for cocktails and uninterrupted conversations, above the bustling city.

What to order: Try their signature small plates, Sushi, Sliders, and Krapow Chicken served with jasmine rice and sunny side up egg. For sipping, ask for the AER-Plane cocktail or the Oceanic Bellini that have fruity and bittersweet notes.
