Stories, Spaces & Everything In Between: Aashna Saran, Aash Studio

Driven by a childhood spent knee-deep in art supplies and a formative education in Performance Design at London’s Central Saint Martins, Aashna Saran views spatial design through a theatrical lens: not as mere elements, but as a medium to evoke emotions.

Over the past decade, as celebrations have moved away from sheer abundance toward individuality, Aashna has remained focused on originality, the guest journey, and the small discoveries that unfold within a space. “I always want there to be something to discover,” she says. This commitment to intentional design also extends into conscious impact; through the studio’s sustainability initiatives, repurposed event materials are transformed into handcrafted bags that support girl child education.

Now expanding her practice into interior styling, Aashna continues to challenge the boundaries of design. At the intersection of culture, spatial storytelling, and fine art, Aashna Saran is shaping a nuanced language for Indian celebrations through Aash Studio.

“With weddings, you can create an entire world that might exist for only six hours. There’s something incredibly freeing about that; you can be theatrical, experimental and transformative.”
