It is not every day that a renowned Indian designer label is seen under the Coachella stage lights. However, record label and experiential series Indo Warehouse marked a significant milestone in fashion and music history as they made their highly anticipated debut at the arts and music festival on April 11, donning creations by the revered maison, Rohit Bal.

Founded by the duo, Kunal Merchant and Kahani aka Armaan, the music collective is known for fusing deep hypnotic beats with South Asian influences. During their Coachella 2025 performance, Indo Warehouse paid homage to the late couturier Rohit Bal by fashioning his signature designs, spearheaded by stylist Gautam Kalra. “In this collaboration, every detail – from the fabrics to the cuts – was designed to match their energy and style. Movement was really important, ensuring they could perform freely while making a strong visual statement,” expressed Tasnim Fraze, Creative Director at Rohit Bal Maison.

The artists were seen moving to hypnotic beats on the global stage in vibrant lotus, peacock, and rose motifs. “Indo Warehouse’s music is all about blending cultures and creating energy, which we wanted to convey through the ensembles they wore. We achieved this by relying on traditional elements woven into our classic cuts and styled with a modern edge,” adds Fraze.

From the velvet bandhgala and jacket to the relaxed-fit embroidered shirt, the all-black ensembles worn by the members were a showcase of the late maestro’s hallmark design facets, reflecting the intricacy of Indian craftsmanship. This high-octane collaboration not only catapulted the finesse of Indian design at one of the world’s largest and most celebrated music festivals but also evoked a sense of nostalgia for patrons of Indian design, reminding us of the timelessness of Rohit Bal’s artistic prowess days after his last goodbye.
