The Stay-At-Home Holiday Season Checklist

The holiday season has officially begun, and we couldn’t be happier! Now would be the time to brace yourselves for the jingle-jangle that the last month of the year brings, along with the promise of a merry time. As we countdown the days to Christmas and New Year, we can successfully say that the change of plans this time around is not raining all over our holiday spirit. 

Why? Because as fun as our bucket list has been every year before 2020, most of it comprised exotic getaways away from close friends and family. Starting with the most-awaited music festivals and then proceeding to a slew of parties, we’ve done it all year after year. This time though, staying home has paved the way for the realization that nothing in the world beats celebrating with family. And so, we’re letting you in on our little checklist for the lockdown holidays! Take notes, and start prepping. 

Cozy-Up & Rewatch Christmas Classics!

Since the festivities are no more just a one-day thing but a month-long celebration, kick ‘em off with evergreen hits! You can choose to Netflix it or turn to the good ol’ CD player (in case you’ve still got one.) Make this movie night at least a weekly thing, and if you’re taking our advice for it – then you’ll definitely need to stock up on popcorn!

Put Together Some Holiday Tunes!

All we want for Christmas is a pleasant break from the monotony of this unprecedented year! We think, one of the best ways to do it is with a playlist everyone can sing or hum along to. Don’t just switch to Spotify curations but make one on your own instead, depending upon the likes of the rest of the family. You can add some kids’ tunes, songs from decades ago, and even modernized (or original) versions of Christmas carols. If you need help getting started on it, then here are a few we’re listening to, and they’ll surely sync with all your holiday moods!

Sing (Or Croak If You May) With A Karaoke Party!

While we’re still talking about music, we’d also like to drop in the idea of a Karaoke night. It’s fun, it’s easy to host, and it brings everyone together like nothing else can. If your family’s not sold on this just yet, how about some party props to get them going? Also, if you wish to have more people involved, this might be a great chance to (finally) interact with your neighbors and invite them over too!

Get Your Bling On!

At this time of the year, PJs are the most tempting choice of clothing due to the cold weather and the overall relaxed atmosphere. But well, if you’re in a place that isn’t absolutely freezing, get out your party dresses and make a night out of it! The club isn’t the only place you can sparkle and shine. If you’ve got good company, enough wine and a group of friends who’re just as sporty, then there’s no stopping you from partying like there is no tomorrow.

Dine In – And Not Out!

It’s true what they say – the way to anyone’s heart goes through their bellies! Whip up a delicious feast at home instead of making reservations at restaurants which will most definitely be brimming with people. Another best part about dining in? You can get everyone to join in on the cooking! This is sure to make the kitchen a whole lot of fun, and allow time for much-needed family bonding. Besides, the aroma of freshly baked cookies or your loved ones’ favourite dishes wafting through the house is better than any 5-star restaurant!
